Beth Moser Photography turns 5!

I can't believe it but this month marks the 5 year Anniversary of Beth Moser Photography. I thought it would be fun to go back to a few of my first little baby clients and have them help me celebrate!

In January 2007 I met with my first clients; the Koechner's. I will never forget the day. At the time I was working a day job at Pictage. I remember thinking after I left the session that I am going to work so hard to go off on my own without having a day job. In June 2008, that goal became a reality.

The Koechner's invited me to their home to do an in home studio family session. Since 2007 they have added a new edition; Eve (1). Now the twins are 5 (pictured below), Margot is 10 and Charlie is 12. I remember the session being super easy going, fun and ofcourse a lot of laughs.

Not only were the Koechner's my first clients but they also introduced me to Suzie Gardner. (owner of Burgundy Blue) When I met Suzie something seemed very familiar to me like I had known her for a long time. We became good friends right away. If you ask me about her I will always say, "I love her she is like a sister to me". I started doing Photo Events at her store in March 2007.

That is when I first met the Frawley family. They brought their two kids, Ayden (then 3) and Tyler (then 7-8months). Since that session I have seen them every year for their annual family session. They now have a little brother Dane. You have probably notice Tyler before (with the balloon) because he and his sister are always in my promos and on my website.

I first met Calvin (with the sign below) in 2007 with his brother Cole. What I didn't realize at first was I met Cole when he was a baby. I was working for Purely Kids Photography at that time. In the last 5 years I have photographed both their birthday parties, preschool and kindergarden graduations, family photo sessions and Jennifer's going away party.

Last spring I learned the Fenton's were moving to Princeton, NJ. I was so sad to hear the news. However it wasn't a goodbye instead it was seeing you in Princeton, Beth! Last October while I was in NYC I took a train out to Princeton to see the Fenton's. It was so fun to do their annual holiday session in Princeton. The leaves had changed, the air was crisp, perfect holiday weather. This March they are welcoming a baby girl. I cannot wait to meet her and see the boys with their little sister.

Beth Moser Photography is my baby, my dream. I can't think of any other job I would want to have. I feel so lucky everyday to be able to do what I love for a living. To be invited in to people's lives and have the chance to document families as they grow is priceless and I feel so grateful.

Meet the Stangel Family: Los Angeles, California

By now you probably know the Tyler's because I have blogged about them a couple times this year as well as Allison's brother. Well I got an email a couple months ago from Renita. When I asked if anyone referred her she replied, "Allison Tyler did". I knew if Allison referred her that they would be an awesome family. Sure enough they were.

Joe and I met The Stangel's at Renita's parents home on a hot Saturday afternoon. The home was beautiful inside and out with tons of places for a good background. The Stangel's were dressed perfect for their photos; not too matchy-matchy but color coordinated!

Baby S was just starting to sit up. She did a great job showing us her tummy time and sit up time. She is a darling sweet baby full of smiles.

Thank you to the Stangel family for inviting me to capture this special time in your lives.

Happy 3rd Birthday Molly and Sam!!

Have you met the sweetest and best cats ever? These are my rescue cats I adopted almost three years ago. I found them at Lacy street shelter sleeping on top of each other. I couldn't bare to separate the two of them so I brought them both home. They bring so much joy to Joe and I. We love them like they are our children.

Today is their 3rd Birthday and I thought it would be fun to have a little Birthday party for them They love real chicken and the canned stuff so today they get to have both. They are so happy right now that they are running all over the place.

To the best cats ever....

Meet the Hartwicks

Last weekend I met the Hartwicks at the Sepulveda Dam Recreation area. We met at 5pm and the light was perfect. I was really looking forward to this shoot because I had worked with the Hartwicks before. I first met them at one of my Right Start Photo Events. I remember it so well because each one of the kids were and are still so adorable, so bright and so funny.(big hams)

There are a ton from their photo session but these two are my absolute favorite so I had to share them with you. I love the family one because it really shows their personalities. (check out cute Sophie with her missing two front teeth) It is priceless as is the one of the 3 kids. Thank you to the Hartwick family for walking a little ways to get to this beautiful private spot for your photo session. See you next time!

Jackson: Los Angeles, CA

Every time I hear the name "Jackson" the June Carter and Johnny Cash song pops in my head. Yes, I am a huge fan of Johnny Cash and June Carter. If you know me well then I have told you the time he winked at me at a concert. My friend Autumn and I about died!! (one of the best days of my life).

Anyway, back to this Jackson. Joe and I arrived at their home for their photo session. They had a beautiful home with tons of great backgrounds to use. Jackson was ready for you his photo session wearing the biggest smiles ever!

You might wonder why I decided to post these all in black and white. Well, It has been so long since I have done so that I was really missing black and white. Jackson's mom really liked the black and white as well so it seemed fitting for this post.

They are such a beautiful, easy going, fun family to work with. I hope you enjoy the images I chose to share with you today. See you when you are walking Mr. Jackson!!

Baby Caden at 6 days old: Santa Monica, California

Remember Baby Brooklyn? Well this could possibly be her future boyfriend. (No, I am only kidding) Brooklyn's mom, Becky referred me to the Minniear family. The Minniear's are just as sweet and welcoming as Brooklyn's family.

We had plenty to chat about but I was really excited to learn that they both went to IU (Indiana University). That is where my cousin lived and sister graduated from not the mention tons of my friends did too. So when I saw that they had an IU hat for Caden to wear I was so happy!

Caden was bright eyed for half the shoot and slept at the end; the perfect baby model. One of my favorite moments of the shoot was when we finally got him to sleep on his belly naked and his parents paused and at the same time said, "AWE" and then Caden's dad said, "fills my heart". One of the best things I love seeing is proud new parents!

Thank you for having me to your home. Maybe we should do a play date shoot with Brooklyn and Caden!?!? ;)

I first met the Kim Family a couple years ago when their oldest son, David was turning 1. We met at my old studio to do his formal shoot and then again at his Dol. David is on my website sitting in the fall yellow leaves looking adorable as ever on the day of his Dol.

Last June, baby Henry arrived and for the last year I have been documenting his life. Newborn, 100th day and now his formal shots plus 1st bday party.

This year the party was at Caterpillar. If you haven't been their yet and live nearby I suggest going. It is clean, well organized and has a great staff. They have wooden jungle gym, a bouncing house, every toy car and dress up costume a kid could ask for. The babies and kids were all having a great time.

When it was cake time Henry was READY! He went for it like I have never seen a kid go for their first cake. It was all over EVERYWHERE, his face, hands, hair, the floor. It was priceless!! Check out all of Henry's cute buddies that came to celebrate his 1st birthday.

A week later The Kim's came over to my house for a private studio session to get the formal images taken. There are loads of cute ones but the one of Henry and David was my absolute favorite. They are really sweet with each other and you can tell they LOVE each other.

The Kim's broke the news to me a while ago that they would be moving at the end of July. I was so sad to hear it but then they told me it was just to San Diego. Kali asked if I would travel because she couldn't replace me and I teared up a bit inside. In my line of work that is the best compliment you could ever hear from a client. (I of course said, "are you kidding? Yes")! So until we meet again in San Diego Kim Family!! xoxo

Welcome to the world Baby BKLYN!

I got a call from Becky inquiring about newborn photos and when I asked her how she heard of me she said, "I got your card from the Right Start bathroom". At the beginning of the year the Right Start Wilshire asked me to hang photos in their bathroom. I was delighted and framed up some images and placed my cards next to them. I wasn't sure how many people actually noticed the images or my cards in the bathroom but now I know... people do look. Becky even said, "It is so smart because pregnant moms are always going to the bathroom".

When Brooklyn was born I got an email to set up the photo session and was at their home by the time she was only 5 days old. Becky answered the door and looked gorgeous. I said, "WOW you look great". The whole family looked great and were ready for photos. Brooklyn was a little sleepy bear the entire shoot but we didn't mind because we captured so many sweet moments and we were able to do everything we wanted to. One of the most special photos that I captured that day was the one of Becky, her mom and baby Brooklyn. I just love capturing special moments like that.

Becky and her husband are a team and it was so amazing to witness their love for their new baby girl. She is just perfect and I look forward to seeing you guys again soon!

Little Leo at 6 days old: Los Feliz, California

Congrats to Lisa and Lenny on making the cutest little guy. I met Lisa from Joe (my husband) a few years ago. Joe and Lisa have been friends for years. They even lived in Taiwan at the same time when they were kids but didn't know each other. Lisa went to the American school while Joe was at the Taiwanese school across the street. Weird huh?

Lisa is also my husbands first closest friend in LA to have a baby. So when we heard the news that she and Lenny were expecting we were over the moon. Lisa and Lenny are such a laid back, fun loving couple and it shows through their sweet Leo. Not once did he cry or anything during his photo session. He even opened his eyes from time to time to look into the camera. It was great to be able to move throughout their home to get numerous different looks. I have only listed a few but I had to show you the one with the baby newborn crown I made and his baby sunglasses. He is only 6 days old and already so hip. We will look forward to watching you grow up little Leo. Joe cannot wait to meet you! Congrats again! xoxo

Hello Sunshine: Manhattan Beach, California

When I woke up this morning in Pasadena it was really dreary out and I was a bit worried. I had an afternoon beach photo session scheduled today. I stayed positive and headed west anyway because usually it will "burn off" in the afternoon. I stopped in Santa Monica to see a friend and she said it was drizzly in Manhattan Beach this morning. I thought, "oh great, oh well it will work out". Sure enough it did. I drove down the 405 to Manhattan Beach and what a saw ahead were blue skies, a few clouds and the SUN!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you mother nature.

Back to the cutie pie in the photos. She was so sweet and helped me set up the tent and the blanket. Then I handed her a bucket and some shells to play with and she was in heaven. She is like a ray of sunshine too. Pretty fitting that her shirts says "Hello Sunshine"! Next week is her 3rd Birthday and I can hardly believe it. The last time I took photos of her she was an itty bitty baby. Now she is having a full on conversation with me. Happy Birthday!!

Happy Summer: Beach photos and fun projects

I am at home today working on some of my new crafty props. I started making these props last fall and now I can't stop. I have to hand it to my sweet husband Joe because without him all my "bright ideas" wouldn't come to life. But now I am determined to learn how to use the sewing machine so I don't have to ask Joe to help me all the time. (not that he minds but..) Up until now I have just been hand sewing everything. Sure it takes longer but I enjoy doing it. Did you know that before I started my photo business I had a t-shirt company? It was very short lived but I did. I would buy vintage t-shirts and hand sew little characters on them or use a bleach pen and draw something. I sold them on consignment.

Anyway, I thought I would share some of my first favorite photos I did at the beach with my props. This is when I first introduced my crafts to my photos. I like to think back to when I was a kid and what I would have liked to play with; what my favorite things were to make. It started with pinwheels, crowns, flags and now it is growing into making much bigger things. I am excited to show you in the upcoming shoots. So stay tuned!!

Meet the Graham Family: Newport Beach, CA

Remember a few weeks ago I introduced you to the Tyler family? Well this is Allison's brother; Drew Graham and his family. They live in Orange County so I headed down south to meet them at Allison and Drew's parents house. Which by the way are wonderful as well!!

It was fun to have a look around their folks house. Their Dad showed me precious photos that had been taken of Alison and Drew when they were little. They were shot at the same house too! So neat to be able to capture the next generation.

Alex is a big ol' ham, he loves to pose and make his sister laugh. Actually he likes to makes us all laugh! Kristina is such a sweet little girl and likes to follow Alex's lead. They are super cute together.

Allison and Drew's parent have two dogs that look exactly alike. Mr. and Mrs. Graham told me that Daisy has a dot on the top of her head and Dixie doesn't. (or it might be the other way around). I am pretty sure that is Dixie below who poked her head out the door to see what we were up too. She was ready for the holiday weekend with her red, white and blue bow around her neck.

Next month I will be back working with the Tyler's for TJ's 2nd bday so you will get to see the whole family together. Stay tuned!!

Meet Liza & Harlan: Louisville, KY

Harlan was born just a couple days before Christmas last year. I was away in Taiwan so I didn't get to meet Mr. Harlan until last month. Harlan is also the son of one of my oldest and dearest friends, Liza. In high school we would set up fun photo shoots together, go to hear bands play, we were always doing something. Liza and I even did a year together at Columbia College Chicago. I was a bridesmaid in her wedding and she was right by my side at mine. So naturally the next step was her turn to have a baby, right?! So the day she told me she was pregnant, well I cried with joy! (Who am I kidding? I cry with joy when all my close friends tell me they are pregnant and when they have their babies) But I could not WAIT to see Liza as a mom. She is one of the funniest, most compassionate, honest, creative women that I know. I knew she was going to be a great mom.

When I arrived at her house Harlan was sitting on the deck in his bumpo seat and Liza was working in the yard. She looked up at me, gave me a hug and I barely hugged back. I basically just b-lined it for Harlan. "Hi Liza, oh sooo good to see you... give me that baby"! haha (mind you it had been over a year since I had seen one of my best friends) I had such a great visit with Harlan and Liza over the week. We went to the Derby parade, a long walk, hung around the house, and on the last day we did his first photo shoot. It reminded me of when we would gather things together in high school for a photo shoot but this time we had her sweet little baby. It was so fun!

Harlan is the spitting image of both Liza and her husband Josh. He has the biggest bluest eyes and he will just look at you. I mean really look at you as if he is really trying to see who you are. My favorite thing that Harlan does is when you hold him he will lay his head against you so strong and hug you. Sweet sweet baby!

My first gift to Harlan was a little fedora hat, sophie, and some clothes. With the hat, I thought naturally he is from Louisville and the boy needs to have a Derby hat. Well, he will have this hat to grow into for the next 3 years!! (hmm, I see a photo project brewing in my head) So check out Mr. Harlan in his hat, showing off his tummy time, sitting up with his little friends and with his mama, Liza.

Karen and Brad are now hitched; Louisville, KY

Remember these two stylish cuties from their engagement shoot last year? I was so honored when she told me that she wanted me to come back to Louisville and do an "after wedding" photo session. They got married last fall when they went on a cruise with their families. Then they had a wonderful wedding party in Louisville that unfortunately I was not able to attend. Karen saved all the details from the wedding party and brought them along for the photo session. She knows how much I love the details.

On the day of the shoot we were all worried it was going to rain. I kept saying, "Mother Nature, just don't rain for the shoot and then you can rain all you want"! It was raining when we met up and all the way until we got to the photo location in Achorage, KY. (small town outside Louisville) I said, "We are really lucky and I feel so blessed for this weather. I mean really the rain just stopped for our shoot"! About 10 minutes after I drove away from the shoot, it started to rain again.

Karen and Brad are so in love and it just beams around them and certainly shows in the photos. They are so fun and are always up for anything that I suggest. Even as far as hopping a broken fence and risking getting spiders, ticks, or mosquito bites for a shot.

Congrats to Karen and Brad! A special thanks to my mom for going thrifting with me for hours to find all the great props in the photos (also props from her basement). A very special thank you to mother nature for not raining; I owe you one!

The Frawley's: Happy Father's Day

I would say, "Meet the Frawley's" but you already have several times if you have been to my website. You will see photos of this beautiful family from the last 4 years. They were one of my first clients that I met when I started doing photo events at Burgundy Blue back in early 2007. Ayden was about 3 and Tyler was about 5 months when I first met them. These two have been best buddies since I have known them and now they have a little brother, Dane. He is just as sweet and full of personality as his brother and sister. If you want Dane to smile all that you have to say is, "Dane, teeth" and he will smile for you.

I wanted to make a special Father's Day gift for James so I got the cardboard, fancy paper and paint out to make this special sign for the kids to hold. I knew I would not have a problem getting them to hold the signs for me. Instantly, they sat down and gave me their best smiles for dad! Thank you to the Frawley family for being so wonderful and loyal to me over the years!

Meet the Tyler's: Los Angeles, CA

I met the Tyler's last summer when I was hosting a photo event in the Pasadena baby store, "Current". They brought their 10 month old, TJ in for a session. I instantly adored this family for many reasons. But for one they are the nicest people you could possibly ever want to meet. (including Allison's parents that came along for the session)

In late October, she signed up for another photo session at, "Current". She was expecting another little boy in early November but wanted to get TJ's one year photo taken. You won't believe what I will tell you next. The day of the session Allison emails me FROM the hospital, "I am really sorry but we have to cancel because I am in labor... baby Maxwell decided to come early". I couldn't believe she contacted me from her hospital bed while in labor! Alison even emailed me a photo of baby Maxwell later that day right after he was born. Can we say super mom? I will, "Super Mom"!

Just five days later, I was at their house to take newborn photos of Maxwell and TJ's 1 year photos. I also got to meet Tobin Sr.'s mother. I captured the nicest shots with the Tyler's and the three grandparents. (including Allison's parents dogs).

In May, I met with the Tyler's on so far the hottest day of the year. Allison and I even joked later that night that we both got sunburn. It was worth it because we had a great time and got so many beautiful shots. Max is doing great on his belly and big brother TJ couldn't be more sweeter to his little brother. (he is a little lover). I love being able to document a families life every few months or even just yearly. It is such and honor to watch the children grow up and document it through my camera.

I'm looking forward to our next session; baby Maxwell will be sitting up and TJ will be running all over as he approaches his 2nd birthday. Did I fail to mention how stylish this family is, because they are. They are always dressed top notch!

Anna and Sebastian's 60's inspired Engagement session: Los Angeles, CA

I met Anna through my husband when we were dating a few years back. There is never a dull moment when you are around Anna. She is so fun, outgoing and always has a story to tell. She actually caught my bouquet at our wedding so I wasn't surprised when she told us she was engaged.

Anna moved to New Zealand early last year to "be a hippie and snowboard". To all of our happy surprise she met her hubby to be while she was there. I'd like for you to now meet Sebastian, he is from Holland. Sebastian is a painter and decided to move to New Zealand earlier last year to focus on his painting. I am not sure how much snowboarding and painting got done between the two. What did end up happening is Anna and Sebastian met and fell in love. I guess you could say it was love at first sight. Anna turned 30 last December and got the best birthday present any girl could ask for; a proposal!

Sebastian and Anna were in town a couple weeks ago so we had time to get some fun engagement photos. I chose a 60's old Hollywood theme because Sebastian had never been to LA before. So instead of making a corny tourist photo session I took it back 45 years. I showed up at their hotel and they looked amazing. It was one of the most fun shoots I have done in a while. My highlight of the day was when a guy drove by in his old 60's convertible and I yelled, "Hey can we use your car"? He stopped and backed up and said, "Sure where should I park it"? I couldn't believe it, so thank you random nice guy with the awesome car! That is one thing that I love about doing engagement shoots. People are always so nice. I always hear, "Sure, you only get married once"!

Congrats Anna and Sebastian. Joe and I are looking forward to the big day in Vegas this fall.

Spring has sprung (sort of) and Mother's Day is just around the corner

In honor of all the great mothers out there I wanted to do something a little more fun rather than $25 or $50 off a session. You may recognize the older sister here. Pearl and I met so long ago she doesn't even remember because she was only about 8 months old. I have been lucky enough to be photographing her for nearly 5 years now. Pearl's little sister is Lovey Mae. (Don't you just adore their names)? These two sisters are a cute as they can be. Pearl is the best big sister and she loves to help her mom with Lovey.

I pulled up to their house to find Pearl waiting for me on the front porch in her purple princess costume. I said, "Hi Pearl, what's new"? She replied, "Hi Beth, well a lot of things are new with me. For one, I just went to Disneyland with my grandparents". After we caught up a bit we went inside to get her sister and pick out the outfits for the day. It wasn't hard because these two little blonde, blue eyed cuties always have the cutest clothes.

After everyone was dressed we headed outside with my props in tow. Pearl was ready to model everything I had brought for her that day. We took turns hiding easter eggs for one another in between taking photos. When we were tired of playing hide and seek the eggs everyone decided we should go for a walk around the block. Next thing I know, Pearl comes out from the backyard on her cute red tricycle and Lovey had her little push toy to take. I thought to myself surely we won't make it around the block with both of these bikes but we did. Pearl and Lovey rode their toys the whole way. Ok, wellll we did stop for some photos. Art directed by (I am sure to be one day assistant of mine) Pearl.

This was such a fun photo session. Really I have never not had fun with these two. I feel so honored to get to hang out and document these two cuties as the years go by.

Meet the Bryden's, the hippest family I know: Eagle Rock, CA

Carrie and I have been friends for almost 20 years. We met in high school and Carrie knew me when I first started photography at age 17. She was one of my first models in the studio. I even entered her portrait in art shows in high school and college. Naturally beautiful now she has a beautiful family.

Almost 5 years ago, I started the official Beth Moser Photography here in LA. I called Carrie and told her that I was finally able to afford 2 lights and would she like to bring the boys by for my first photo session in my in home studio. She was happy to bring the boys by.

I think this might have been the first time I ever met Marley and Lennon. Marley was 5 and Lennon was 3. Here we are now nearly 5 years later, Marley is 10 and Lennon 7. It has been so much fun to watch these little men grow up. They both have such wonderful smart personalities. They are goof balls but the most polite goofballs I have ever met. They are so good at listening to me when I need them to settle for a portrait. But then when it's time to be goofy again, it's on!!

While I have photographed the boys on and off over the years we never did a family sessions. So when Carrie called to book a family session, I couldn't wait. I knew it was going to be a super fun-never a dull moment photo session. Sure enough it was!!

I wanted to make sure that I not only took pictures of them as a family but also of just Carrie and Scott. They have been together over 10 years and they love each other more than ever. I love being in their presence to see how much they love each other and their family.

I can't forget to mention their 4 legged family members; Brian (the scottie) and Jimmy
(the cute..terrier)? Brian actually runs this family. He will tell it to you straight with his growl and smiling teeth. He herds around the family and tells them he is BOSS! It was only fitting to have a family portrait of Brian in the front and the rest of the family in the back.

My favorite image is the last photo posted here. I love that Carrie is looking at me smiling and paused for a minute while her family is in full swing behind her!! Thank you to the Bryden family for supporting me through my art and allowing me to document your lives through the years.

The Lee Family: Pasadena, CA

Jason emailed me earlier in the week from work in NYC. He wrote that he will be in town over the weekend and wanted to get family and 1 year milestone photos of his son.

It was Joshua's first professional photo session but as you can see in the photos; he was a natural. I arrived at their home and Joshua was still sleeping. I grabbed a couple sleeping shots and then when he woke up he looked at me as if we were old friends. He was so still and happy. I had Jason and Maggie jump into bed with him for a family shot. It was a perfect moment and perfect light.

After he woke up a bit we got him dressed. Then we headed to the living room so he could show me how he can stand and walk around the couch. When we were done cruising around the living room we went outside. They live right by the Pasadena Auditorium. While I have never been inside I have always driven by and admired the beautiful architecture.

It was a perfect afternoon and thanks to mother nature she held off on the rain that day. Happy 1st Birthday, Joshua! I am so happy I got to document this special milestone in your life.

The Wild Flowers are out! Time for hiking and photo sessions.

Remember the last 2 weeks? Rain one day, cloudy the next? I was starting to feel like I had moved to Portland. It makes is hard when planning a photo session outdoors. Kristin and I had rescheduled at least 2 times because of weather. I even emailed her the Friday before our photo session to say, "Looks like big rain on Sunday. Are you free in Saturday"? She and her family were and I was so happy. I met them on some trails in Sherman Oaks to do our photo session. We really couldn't have asked for a better day. The sky was lined with rows and rows of puffy clouds (photographers dream) and everything was so green because of all the rain we had. My favorite part of this time a year is when the wild flowers come out. They were out alright bundles of yellow flowers all a long the trail.

Little Logan just turned one last month. You would think he was a lot older the way he walks and talks. He was all over the trails, checking out the flowers, grass, anything new. Such a fun little guy!

I loved getting out on such a beautiful day after weeks of staying in because of the rain. It was also wonderful to spend the afternoon outside with such a fun loving family. Thanks you guys!

St. Patricks day baby: Sophie has arrived folks!!

Sara's husband called me just 5 days after little Sophie had entered the world. Sophie decided to come 2 weeks early. That would be March 17th, St. Patricks Day. Well this cute family did get lucky for sure that day because they got baby Sophie!

I had photographed Sophie's big sister, Madison last summer. When I arrived I am pretty sure she remembered me. I can't forget her because she always has a cute smile on her face. Madison was waiting for me at the door. I looked at her and then looked at baby Sophie and said, "Wow they are twins". That's right Sophie and her big sister look like twins, It is uncanny.

I towed in all my props and backdrops and set up in Madison's room. I am not sure what she thought about me taking over her room. She kept coming in and out singing songs with me, grabbing a book or two, or to just have a little cuddle with mom and Sophie.

Sophie was awake for the entire time. She didn't want to sleep through her first photo session!! Below are just a few of my favorite moments of the day.....

Welcome to the world sweet little Eloise: March 17, 2010

I woke up yesterday morning with a text from Kylie. "At hospital, will be here for a couple days, baby should be here tonight"! I gasped with excitement thinking, yes she is on her way. I get to go meet a brand new baby in the hospital. This was the first for me and let me tell you, it is something amazing.

When I arrived Kylie and her husband were waiting for Eloise to get back. Kylie looked so pretty and I kept saying, "I can't believe you had a baby yesterday, you look so wonderful". The nurse handed Eloise to Kylie for a little cuddle and I started to set up a comfy spot for Eloise's first photo session. (only 22 hours old)!

She was the most bright eyed little ones I have ever seen as well as calm. Eloise even lifted her head a couple time. Never have I ever been around to witness a babies first feeding, first poopie diaper, first sneeze... it was truly one of the coolest things I have ever been around. Can you tell I now have major BABY FEVER!?!?

Kristin and Kaj: Santa Monica, CA

Last holiday season my friend Emily called me to purchase a gift card for her boss and his family. When Joe and I got back from Taiwan I had a voice message from Kristin. She was ready for her photo session that Emily had given her. I was so excited as this was my first photo shoot of 2011.

We talked and planned to meet at the Ocean Ave park. The park over looks the beach in Santa Monica. It was a beautiful day; sunny and warm. Did I mention it was the end of January too? It was and we were all so stoked to be outside this time a year. Kristin and I both use to live in NYC so we knew we were lucky to be having an outdoor photo session this time a year!

Kaj was full of smiles the entire session. It is clear that his mom is his best friend. They giggled and chased each other around the whole time. Well, that was until I brought the bee ride out. Kaj loved that thing but when it was time to go he was so polite and told it bye bye and gave it back to me. Thanks for such a fun photo session Kaj and Kristin. I will look forward to seeing you guys again!

Every month I go into the four Right Start stores here in SoCal. When you spend $75 or more in the Right Start you receive a complimentary mini session with me in the store. I bring my studio and set up in the store. We have our session and then meet back a week later to go over and order your images.

It has been a while since I have blogged about my monthly photo sessions at Right Start. Most of my work is shown in black and white but lately I have really been liking everything in color. This past month I took a few days to give back to the theatre art community. I teamed up with the Victory Theatre to help raise money for the theatre. We live in LA and everyone needs a headshot these days. Whether you are an actor, real estate agent, server, using a dating site or just need a nice photo for facebook. For $45 people made an appointment through the theatre and received a 15 min. photo session with me and in return they received 1 jpg. It was a great success and I am so happy I could help people out.

Valentine week: from the Disney Concert Hall to the woods in Pasadena

The past week has been so much fun with all the Valentine themed photo sessions. Here are two of my favorite sessions. The first session was shot at the Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. I have been wanting to do a photo session here for years so when Jerilyn emailed to schedule the shoot here I was more than excited!

I waited by the box office for Jerilyn and her family with 12 balloons in hand. It was quite funny to see the looks that I was getting from people. Some tourist took photos of me, some people walked by saying, "oh look she is waiting for her Valentine." But the best comment I received was from the security guard at the Music Hall. He stopped and asked If I was selling the Balloons!! I said, "Do I look like a balloon saleswoman? No, I am waiting for my Valentine"!! He smiled and said, "Oh ok" and walked away".

Jerilyn showed up with her cutie pie 8 month old son and her sweet 1 1/2 year old little niece. These two are buddies for sure. You asked little Miss H to sit by her baby cousin and away she went. She loved giving him little kisses. The entire photo session they would just look and giggle at each.

The second photos were very special too....

It was Mr. Finn's 3rd birthday. Yes, that is right Finn was born on Valentine's day. It doesn't get much better than that. I showed up at his house greeting him with, "Happy Birthday!! Are you ready for an adventure today"? He replied, "YES"!!!

Joe and I went all out for Finn. We made the Birthday banner and car. All the other props are courtesy of my moms basement. Finn helped us set up everything so it was perfect. Then I handed him a cupcake and we have the best picnic/ birthday/ valentine photo session ever!

A couple joggers saw what we were doing and yelled out "Awe, Happy Birthday buddy"!! It made Finn smile so big! The best part was Finn's mom got the biggest surprise when she got home. Jen had no idea what we were doing!! Thanks again Jen for letting me, "do my thing"!!

I love making props and setting up scenes. I think it is the best part of being a kid.. using you imagination. If you like the props stay turned we have more up our sleeves so let us know if you would like a custom prop photo session! The sky is the limit when you use your imagination!

Happy 1st Birthday Chloe

Kathy called to see if I would be available to document her daughters 1st birthday party. She told me that she really wanted a lot of detail shots of the party. I told her that is one of my favorite part of shooting a party; the DETAILS! Oh how I LOVE the details. I arrived at her home to see a huge table greet me with tons of different sweets! Really a girls dream ya know!

Her daughter came out dressed to the 9's in her birthday tutu. Moving around at top speed. As all of the guest arrived you could tell this was a very special day for them. Lots of family and friends here to share Chloe's 1st Birthday.

Kathy and her husband were the best host. The both made Joe and I feel like guest. Thank you for having us document such a special day in your families lives!

Welcome to the world little one

This sweet little one just arrived about 3 weeks ago. When I arrived at her house she was sleeping soundly in here Papa's arms. I was really looking forward to this photo session. Mainly because her mom and I had been going back and forth with prop ideas. Kudos to her mom too, she bought so many great pillows, hats and blankets to help make this a success. I also have to mention that their home was a photographers dream. Hardwood floors and marble floors, windows that were floor to ceiling. Like I said, a dream. This was the longest newborn session I have ever done (5 hours or so) but also one of the most fun. Little baby girl kept going to the potty when we wanted to shoot or she would be awake.

With time and patience you can get any shot. This is why it is so great to do newborn sessions in your home. You don't have to be rushed. There are loads and loads of amazing shots from this day but here are a few of my personal favorites. Congrats on your new addition. She is just perfect!

Karen and Brad are Engaged: Louisville, KY

Meet Karen and Brad, two people you for sure want to meet. When I first reconnected with Karen it was when she was living in Orange County (we are old high school buddies). Naturally we thought that we would be shooting their engagement photos at the beach but over Christmas they both landed really great jobs in Louisville. This is where they both met over 7 years ago at Actors Theatre. Karen and Brad have now come full circle after meeting in Louisville, then living all over the country, and now back to Louisville.

I was in Kentucky shooting a wedding this summer so it worked out perfect to arrange a photo shoot with Karen and Brad. They are a dream couple, they live together, work together and you can tell they are so in love. It just radiates when you are around these two.

Big thanks to them for being into all my props and ideas for this photo shoot. I raided my moms basement and found all the vintage props. My moms basement is a gold mine (thanks mom). Karen and Brad have the perfect look for this vintage inspired photo shoot.

Melissa and Pat are Married : April 26, 2010 : Louisville, Kentucky

Congrats to Melissa and Pat. They were married on a beautiful hot Saturday evening on June 26, 2010. The ceremony took place on the roof of the Frazier Historical Arms Museum. Joe and I met the bride and groom while they were getting ready. Melissa was the calmest bride I have ever seen. Melissa is also a photographer so she just said to, "do my thing". The grooms room was a little different vibe. The world cup was on so it was a lot of eyes glued to the TV while, getting ready with Makers Mark!! To calm the nerves if you will!

The ceremony was short but sweat I mean sweet! Melissa and Pat were beaming with their wonderful smiles that can light up any room. There were TONS of family and friend surrounding them. You could feel all the love and support for these two wonderful people.

After the ceremony we headed downstairs to Main St. As long as I have known Pat he has LOVED the Beatles. So of course I was not surprised when he ask for me to shoot an "Abby Road" inspired photos with his boys!

This was such a fun group, everyone was ready for whatever Joe and I threw at them; even outside in 95 degree weather. For those of you who have never been to KY in the summer; 95 degree Louisville is WAY different than 95 degrees in Los Angeles. It's VERY HUMID!

The reception was great; lots of great food, cake, drinks and laughs. By the end of the night this wedding party was tearing up the dance floor.

Melissa and Pat thank you again for having Joe and I document your big day. We truly felt honored to be there. Much love and happiness to the both of you!!

Brian and Jessica were married two weeks ago at the Porter Ranch Country Club in Northridge, CA. The forecast called for rain but there wasn't a drop in sight for their perfect day.

Jessica was stunning and looked like an old Hollywood movie star. They were surrounded by so many friends and family you could feel the love that everyone had for these two.

The party really got started right away!! This wedding party can DANCE! I saw people break dancing, swing dancing! It was such a fun wedding to photograph.

I never got a chance to blog about this wonderful and amazing family. Joe and I drove up North off the 101 to meet Michelle and her family last December. Each and everyone of them were up for anything I suggested. We had so much fun and before I knew it 2+ hours had flown by!

Meet Daisy and Delilah: 5 weeks

I think a lot of you have seen the baby cocoons that I have been knitting the past month. I posted photos on my fan page. On super bowl weekend I was showing my friend Kari my baby cocoons and told her I was having the hardest time finding newborns. And that I just want to practice and see if these things will work for photos. Kari then told me she didn't just have one friend with a newborn but two friends and one of them just had TWIN GIRLS! Instantly I said, "ok call or facebook her right away"! So she did and last week I had the honor in meeting Daisy and Delilah and their parents Renee and Devon.

I arrived at their home with 3-4 bags in tow of props and camera equipment. After I got everything in the house Renee's mom point to the couch and said,"There they are, Daisy and Delilah". They were sleeping side by side sharing a boppie, that is how tiny they were. I think around 5-6 pounds each. Sweet little angels!!

I ended up spending almost 3 hours at their home switching out Daisy and Delilah in between naps and feedings. Daisy likes to sleep a lot and Delilah likes to wake up and look at your from time to time. Daisy and Delilah LOVED the knitted baby cocoons. They were snug as a bug in a rug in them; the perfect size! These two little ladies def made me run home to my husband and let him know I want a baby in the future.(but not yet) I do feel the baby bug for sure. How can you not from these sweet little ones.

Meet Charley and his Family

Charley's mom, Lynn called me probably about 6 weeks ago. Because of all the rain we this past month we had to reschedule at least 2-3 times. This Sunday we finally got to get together in their beautiful home.

We were supposed to just come by for 30mins but 30mins quickly turned into 2 hours. I didn't mind, every inch of their home including the backyard was perfect for photos. And Charley is now one of my top best 2 year old of all time. He was up for ANYTHING!! He mainly just wanted to show me all his toys and flash a smile here and there!! It was a honor to document this wonderful family.

Meet Jessica and Brian

I met Jessica last October when I shot Kirsten and Bucks wedding on Catalina Island. Jessica is an amazing hair stylist and did Kirsten's hair for her wedding. I wonder who will do her hair for her wedding?!

I remember meeting Jessica that day and hearing her talk about her upcoming wedding this April, she was soo excited. When Jessica called me after Kirsten's wedding to ask me to shoot her wedding, I was more than excited.

This past weekend, Joe and I met Jessica and Brian at Santa Monica Pier for their engagement shot. I couldn't ask for a more beautiful day to shot this beautiful couple.

When I asked Jessica how she and Brian met she said, "We met from my best friend, they went to high school together. We fell for each other right away. I think it was love at first site".

These two are so full of life and love, it is really sweet. They were up for anything I suggested which made it a really easy for me and a super fun shoot. Here are more than a few of my favorites.

Meet Melissa and Patrick

Patrick and I became friends in high school, I think around 16 years old. He is an old and dear friend. He met Melissa and started dating her nearly 9 years ago. I remember when they first starting dating and thinking to myself these two are perfect for each other.

So I wasn't surprised when Patrick emailed me a couple months ago to tell me they were getting married. He also emailed to tell me that I was their first and only choice to photograph their wedding. I have to say I was SO honored to hear that! Especially since there are plenty of photographers in Louisville they could have chosen.

Yesterday, I met with the two of them to shoot their engagement photos and catch up. Although it had been 4 years since I had seen the two; it really seemed like yesterday!

I can't wait to photograph their big day in Louisville in June. Here are my favorites!!

Meet Timur, the coolest 10 yr old I have ever met!

Last weekend I headed over to Timur's house to photograph him with his dog Bella. He just got Bella a few months ago but you would think Bella had been a part of the family for years. These two are a perfect pair. Timur treats Bella like a little sister. It really is one of the cutest bonds I have ever seen!

Timur was great at showing me around his house and all the great spots to shoot. He had me laughing the whole shoot. The best part was when I was walking out the door he said, "Hey, do you like your job"? I said, "Yes, of course I get to work with cool kids like your all the time"! He then said, "Well you get a gold star then"! And according to him that is the highest praise.

Thanks Timur and Bella, it was a lot of fun!

Wendy and Delaney and feeling pretty thankful!

This past weekend, Joe and I headed over to the west side to meet up with Wendy and her daughter Delaney. It was a breathe of fresh air for Joe and I since we live in Pasadena now. We had some time before the shoot and so we drove up the PCH. Wow what a beautiful drive.

When we met up with Wendy and Delaney, I had already chosen all the shots in mind for these two. Delaney was one of the sweetest and easiest little ones I have worked with in a while. We ran around and played all over the park! I love that she brought her magic wand and princess tiara. Let me tell you she knows some pretty cool secret spells too!

As I started to write this blog entry, an email came in from Wendy. We were finalizing her order and at the end of the email she said, "By the way, Delaney is standing next to me and she said "Mommy, I want you to say good night to Beth!" So, good night... from Delaney!" I thought that was so so sweet. Just another reason I feel blessed and so thankful for all the wonderful families I meet day to day. Happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone of you!

It's Pumpkin Time!!

Last Sunday I met baby Brandon and his parents in Pasadena to do a Halloween and Holiday sitting. Brandon's mom; Magdalena's was so prepared with everything, I loved it. She brought both his costumes and his cute little holiday outfit.

They are from Santa Monica and so they had done the beach family photos already. When I talked to Magdalena on the phone she told me instantly that they would come to me. She said she want something different from what they have already. It was music to my ears, I have been dying to take a family around to all the new spots I have had my eyes on in my new neighborhood. If you have never explored Old Pasadena, you need to. It is filled with old buildings, cool doors and alleys!

Happy Halloween!!

This past weekend the owner of Totz Only, Blaire Dollinger invited me to come and shoot her annual Halloween Party. I was more than happy to be invited. I saw a lot of familiar faces and some people I haven't seen since I start on my own in Dec 2006.

I showed up and Blaire had the backyard all set up and ready to go. Tons of yummy food, tables set up for kids to have craft time, and a spider pinata...you name it she had it! One of the best activities she had was storytime with Jamie Hood. Jamie was amazing how she caught all the childrens attention. Make sure to check her out at Totz Only every Friday starting November 6th at 11am. She is fantastic!

But let's be serious the most fun for me was walking around taking photos of all the kiddos dressed up. There really isn't anything cuter than a child dressed up! A handful of the parents dressed up as well. Check out some of the photos from the party! Thanks Blaire for having me!

Welcome Baby Holden

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting the Thunell family at their home. They welcomed Baby Holden 2 months ago. When I arrived at their home Matt had everything laid out and ready to go. They had the bed covered with white blankets, hats, furniture ready to place Baby Holden in. He was so patient as we posed him in so many different ways. One thing we learned about Baby Holden was that he is not so thrilled about hats. BUT you can't tell in the photo because he looks as cute as can be! The last half hour he decided to go to sleep which was fine with us because it was time to take photos of him in the shelf.

I think the major highlight for me was when their puppy decided to jump in the photo shoot. I have loads of photos of Baby Holden by himself but the ones with the dog are to cute for words. I just love how you can plan something out but sometimes the things that aren't planned are the most fun and special.

Kirsten and Buck October 10, 2009

I was so honored when Kirsten called and asked ME to shoot her wedding back in March. I have been looking forward to it ever since. My shooting partner Dacia Lamb and my husband, Joe, assisted me on this perfect day. Thank you so much for all of your help!

I have never seen a bride so calm on the day of her wedding. When I asked her, she said she just knew Buck was the one so what was there to be nervous about? I love that! It was one of the funniest weddings I have ever been too. Thank you for having me!

At 3:45pm on Saturday October 10, 2009 Buck and Kirstin said their "I do's" at the Wrigley Memorial on Catalina Island. The sky was crystal blue and there was the perfect breeze running through the air.

Congrats to Kirsten and Buck! I wish you a long and happy life together! xoxo

Holidays are almost here believe it or not!!

The summer flew by with work and playing wedding coordinator. I woke up yesterday, looked at the calender and couldn't believe it was October 1st already. If you are wanting to schedule a holiday session especially on the weekends contact me now. My October weekends are filling up. There are still openings on the weekends for November. I will be open Thanksgiving weekend but am booked that Saturday afternoon already.

On September 19, 2009, Joe and I said our "i do's". It was the best day of my life so far. The first thing people ask you when you get married is, "are you going to have kids" and "what is your new name". While I cannot answer the kids part I can answer my new name question. My name is now Beth Moser-Chang. I am leaving the business as Beth Moser Photography! The wedding was the best day of my life so far. This is one of my favorite shoots of Summer 2009!!

I was lucky enough to go to Angela and Alejandro's home to photograph their 5 week old son, Sebastian Easton Seri. He slept most the time which I didn't mind. That is my favorite part of photographing newborns, when they just lay all curled up! He did pop his eyes open to say hi a few time. And take a look at how sweet the "Mommy and Me" Photos are!! Congrats to you both on your beautiful little boy!

I was just with my other photographer friend Dacia Lamb (and my wedding photographer). She is so good at blogging. She tries to post something everyday if not at least a few times a week. As you could see by my last post (in May) I have taken on a second job of Wedding Planning. So with that and my company I have just plain neglected my blog... and I am sorry. Sorry Blog!!! Joe and I are engaged!!!

Thailand here I come, well in January

For a couple years now, I have had the dream of going to Thailand and/or Cambodia to volunteer and work with children. Up until now I had not found the right place for me. I have talked to so many different people all over the world about where is the best place to go etc.. One of my best friends, Becky emailed me the other day and said, "let's do this together". I thought, oh I don't have time to do that kind of thing but WISH I could. After talking back and forth with her and my contact person, I realized I CAN do this even if it is just for 2 weeks, that is something. This is a chance of a lifetime!

Also being a photographer, January is the best time a year to take a holiday and happens to be the best weather that time a year in Thailand. So this is what I am doing. Mon-Thurs I work 8am-1pm with the children after that I am free to do whatever I like. I can go around to other schools and meet and photograph the children. After my trip, I will be making a book and sending to the children along with prints for the families to have.

Another great part is, Cambodia is just one hour away by bus, so I am really living out my dream of going to Thailand and Cambodia. After Thailand, Joe and I will fly to Taiwan where I will meet his extended family for the first time.

I am looking around for schools that would like to have a fundraiser at their school. I will come in and shoot portraits of the kids and 1/2 the money go towards that school and the other 1/2 will go towards my trip to work with the Children in Thailand. We can also set up a pen pal type thing. Please contact me if you think you school would be interested.

I wish January were here already! HA!

Eagle Rock.. Rocks!

This is my second time this week shooting in Eagle Rock and again one of my favorite families. I photographed these little guys over 3 years ago when I first bought my equipment. They were the first to come to my studio. Carrie is one of my oldest friend from high school. I use to take photos of Carrie in high school and hang them in coffee shops when I first started shooting. Who knew we would be living in LA over 15 years later and shooting her headshots and photos of her kids. Such a great family!!! Here are my favs from today! xoxo

Yes, you have probably seen these two on my website. This time we took the photo shoot outside and it was great!! Big brother showed me around his yard and was such a big help with his little sister! It was a fun afternoon with these two. Little sis just had her first birthday a few weeks ago and she is about to take off on her own!!

Spring in Kentucky

I was in Kentucky shooting all last week! These guys are the first little ones I photographed 2 1/2 years ago when I started my company. They're one of the first post on my blog too! The Young lady, I have known since she was 3. I met her on her 3rd bday and now she is turning 9 this month!!! At that time I still shot film, I need to find those photos and scan them in for everyone to see!

The weather was so amazing and everyone was so happy to be outside while I was there. Living in LA we take for granted the wonderful weather we have pretty much everyday!

Bella, Molly and Sam

Many of you met my cat Bella at my studio. She passed about a month ago at 10 1/2 years old. She had stomach cancer. Bella is very much missed over her at the studio.

Being heartbroken over her passing I decided to adopt 2 kittens from the pound last weekend. After I took them to my vet, I found out they are 4 months old. The pound told me they were 6 months. I can't wait for you guys to meet them.

Here are photos of my Sweet Bella <3, Molly and Sam.(Molly is the one with the lamp shade on her head, that is so she doesn't pull out her stitches)

I think my new year resolution is to stay on top of my blog more. It was such a great holiday season for me that I really didn't have time to update. This month I will be traveling to Phoenix for Image USA (a photo convention). I am taking my assistant with me to take notes for me! HA!

When I get back I promise to update my blog with some of my best of 2008 shots as well as my website!

Last weekend I drove down to Costa Mesa to meet up with this awesome family at a park by their house!! I hadn't been to Orange County in a while and it felt good to be back!

Today was awesome!!One of my favorite repeat clients came to my studio to get photos of she and her daughter, the studio ones were turning out great but I said, "I have some time let's go out in my backyard". These are two of my favorites from outside today, so pretty and sweet!

This week one of my past clients from when I worked for purely kids photography drove down to my studio for a session. It had been about 2 years since I photographed big sister and now she has a new little sister just as cute!! Thanks for coming to see me ladies!

East Coast bound

I finally took a break and headed east this weekend to visit my sister and brother in law. I have not seen them in over a year and half! We went into DC today not knowing there was a motorcycle parade. Apparently every memorial day weekend motorcyclist come from all over to ride. All the roads were blocked but we made our way to the Lincoln Memorial and Reflection pool. It was a bit like Forest Gump because there were soo many people around. I have not been to DC since I was 19 and at that time there wasn't a soul up there but the people I went with.

Oh my it has been almost 5 months since I have posted anything on here; that is really bad huh? Well the holiday season was awesome and so busy thank you everyone.

I decided over my holiday break to start offering my services to birthday parties and/or outdoor shoots.

October Event at Burgundy Blue

It was another great event weekend at Burgundy Blue.... I am excited for the holiday season. Things are starting to get busy over here.

I only have 2 days open in October; Friday 19th and Saturday, October 20th. I also just added Saturday and Sunday, Thanksgiving weekend. So if you and your family are in town..come on over!

I will be working up until December 15th and then I am heading to Kentucky to visit my family for the holidays. I am so excited to go home because I haven't seen my family since last xmas. I will be heading to my second home, NYC for New Years.

Here are some of my fav pix from this weekend. A lot of people ask me if I sell them in color or black and white. I personally prefer the black and white but I also believe in giving people choices; so a I put a couple in black and white so you can see the difference! Enjoy!

Things that are new on the site!!

I am now offering location shoots in your home, at your favorite park, heck where ever!

Notice on my site I also added a few packages which I am very excited about.

The "Watch Me Grow" is a wonderful and affordable way to document your child in 1 year. Generally this is for the newbee's but can be great for 1 year and older as well!

Check out the "Party Pack"; this one is great if you have a 'Mommy and Me" (or "Daddy and Me") group. Mainly because the kids all know each other and can play while I take the others child's photo. Also gives time for the parents to catch up.

Last, i have had so many people ask me to do b-day parties or any kind of party and so as usual- you folks ask and you receive it!

Okay, thank you to everyone that has been so patient in waiting for me to get my website up. I finally picked a site today and should have it up with in the next week. I cannot wait! So hang tight it is on the way!

Kid Works Children's Carnival

So this past Saturday I volunteered to take family photos at Jerome Park in Santa Ana for Kid Works. www.kidworksonline.org
